1. 'Dualidad' (Dualism) – set of two nightstands, which juxtapose two opposite designs of the same piece, claiming a right to uncertainty, by Beatriz Zuazo – @entrevetas – one piece is fully made from European cherry except for the drawer front, which is veneered with a double-bevel marquetry composition. The other consists of a plywood mitre joint carcass, veneered with the same marquetry design and combined with solid European cherry drawer and legs. The marquetry parts are edgebanded with a 5mm-thick lamination before they're veneered. The drawers are side hung and constructed in the English manner, with drawer slips to accept the drawer bottom. The drawer stops consist of a steel spring added to the runners. Entered in Australian Wood Review's – @woodreview – World category, Maker of the Year, presented by Carbatec – @carbatec

2. 'Lelló' cabinet by former Robinson House Studio – @robinsonhousestudio – student Ian Burnell – @ianburnelldesigns. Winner of our recent Liberon – @liberon.uk – competition, the colour on the inside surfaces and the ebonised exterior helps to lead the eye towards the exposed London plane in all its glory – from the pop of lacewood on the internal box section edge to the light spalting and lacewood on the inside of the exterior structure

3. 'Less is more' collector's chest – scorched and inked ash legs and drawers fronts, rippled ash veneered body. Solid olive ash drawer boxes with cream leather lining, by Philip Gay – @timber_robot_studio

4. Side table in cherry, with accessory bookcase in walnut – a commission from earlier in the year, by Keith Turner – @timber_robot_studio

5. 'Twin' coffee table by Teixeira Design Studio – @joaoteixeira_designstudio – distinctive aspect lies on the detail formed by a unique joint between two turned legs, which sit side by side, and a plywood band, which evolves the table top. The bent plywood bands have rounded details at their tips, which creates a smooth joint when attached to the turned legs
