Greenwood Days – volunteer day & new courses

6 March 2022 sees the return of Greenwood Days' annual spring volunteer day, which hasn't been held for the last few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a chance for those interested to visit the wood and help prepare the centre for the coming season. Owner Peter says he loves these days as it gives him a chance to catch up with students he's already met on previous courses, as well as giving people an opportunity to come and see what's going on.

There'll be plenty of wood chopping, fixing up of lathes, maintenance on benches and the toilet block and hopefully a few panels of weaving to spruce the place up. Peter promises to fire up the pizza oven so everyone can make and have pizzas for lunch.

Please note that no children or dogs are permitted on the day as - hopefully - there'll be lots of people working.

If you're interested and are thinking of attending, please get in touch with Peter – call 07946 163 860 or email [email protected] – as soon as possible. There'll be a limit on numbers so spaces are offered on a first come first served basis.

New courses for May
In terms of the course diary, there's a few new ones for May. These include a two-day course taught by Peter Kovacs (9–10 May), which teaches you how to properly haft an axe, then make a leather sheath for it. If you can't wait for the writing below click here for the course. There's also weaving with bark while making your own foraging basket (11–12 May) as well as one on how to decorate all the wooden things you've made on previous courses (13 May).

You can find out more about these courses as well as others throughout the year by visiting the website: www.greenwooddays.co.uk
