The Projects section hits something of a high this month with some highly attractive and challenging work for you to try. Ian Taylor’s sleigh bed in American cherry and utile is something of a grand design, the use of tambours (some 72 of them – plus 88 splines!) making for a study in production work. Meanwhile Mark Cass makes his Projects debut with a simple yet elegant dining table – you’ll like his projects and you’ll really enjoy his frank and humorous way with words. As well our newly-wed Ben Plewes shares with us the making of a necklace box he made for his wife. As ever with Ben, it’s exquisitely detailed and beautifully made.

Workshop gets ever stronger. Editor Ralph’s been busy mortising and sanding, while Keith Smith’s discussion on dust extraction you’ll find very useful. Meanwhile Ron Fox reviews the latest developments in routing technology.

In Turning we have a three-part series starting, by Lynton Wedlock, on the use of lasers with the lathe. This really is something special, sure to get the seasoned turners talking. Those just beginning might find Bryn Edwards’ yo-yo a little easier to follow.

As ever the team follow on with tests from every quarter of toll-land, from turning tools, to spring clips, through carpenters’ squares and onto sliding mitre saws.
