New Axminster workbenches 

Every good workshop needs a good workbench and for 2014 Axminster Tools & Machinery has introduced a new range of premium quality workbenches. Traditionally designed, made from European beech and finished with a lacquer to produce flat, stable and sturdy workbenches, these benches are high performing and long lasting.

Diamond workbenches are available in two options: the D1 is supplied with one 360mm wooden vice and one 175mm quick release carpenter's vice; the D2 is fitted with two 360mm wooden vices. Both come complete with quality European hardware and wide trestles making them far sturdier than similar benches of this size. Both are equipped with 20mm bench dog holes and supplied with suitable dogs to fit.

Premium workbenches also come in two options: Premium AS and Premium Monster M. Both are equipped with heavy duty tops measuring 1910x615x850mm with 20mm bench dog holes or side clamping and jointing; suitable bench dogs are supplied as standard. The main difference between the two models is that the Monster has thicker trestles and is of a dovetail construction which enhances strength and rigidity. Both benches are supplied with a tool drawer and well as standard.

Benches for colleges: again two options are available. The four-sided workbench is heavy duty with four sides made of quality, European, kiln dried beech wood. It is designed for use in an educational environment to allow up to four students to share a sensible sized workspace. It forms a very rigid structure and the placement of the legs would allow a wheelchair user to comfortably access this bench. The 600mm square recess in the top is filled by a reversible tray which lies flush with the surface to give a large working area or, when reversed, acts as a tool well. This square style of bench can also be very useful when working on furniture and similar large items.

The two-sided workbench provides enough space for two people to work together at the same time. It is extremely robust with two 40mm thick slabs of laminated beech, each measuring 1,800mm x 250mm. This bench is reminiscent of a traditional school woodworking bench. Vices are available as optional extras.

All benches are flat packed but relatively easy to assemble.
