New Forest Trust Furniture Competition Winners

This year’s prize winners for the Axminster awards came from Rycotewood Furniture Centre in Oxford and Williams & Cleal Furniture School in Somerset.
Judges Richard Williams, Jane Cleal and Tom Kealy awarded marks for design, craftsmanship and fitness for purpose.
The New Forest Trust organised another successful Fine Crafted Wood Exhibition and Furniture Competition with entries on display at the New Forest & Hampshire County Show.

For the second year running the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers awarded two prizes of £200:
Best Designer: Afra El Hussein
Best Craftsman: John Nolan
Mark Gardiner 3rd Place
The main aim of the Competition is to promote the use of New Forest timbers to make high quality furniture. By encouraging students to use New Forest timber for their projects, the Trust hopes that both they and their tutors will appreciate the value, beauty and usefulness of this resource.
