New Routers from Makita

Here's a quick look at two new router models from Makita.

The new RP1801X is a 1,650watt router and the RP2301FCX has 2,100 watt of power. Both will run up to 22,000rpm with no load and the full plunge depth has been increased to a useful 70mm. The depth of plunge is easy to adjust with finger-twist adjusters placed by the right hand control handle. The ergonomic design of the control handles gives a positive grip.

Makita has re-designed the shape of the base plate, which has a wide nominal diameter of 160mm and now has one flat edge and fence clamp, which makes for accurate moulding operations along board edges. These new routers are delivered with an accurate and sturdy micro adjustable fence. Twin LED job lights contribute to the easy operation of both routers.

The Makita router bit range is the most extensive offered by any British power tool manufacturer with more than 350 bits available together with a complementary list of jigs, guides, table and accessories. Suitable for both hand and CNC machine use as appropriate, the Makita router bits are tungsten carbide tipped, or solid carbide, and are UK manufactured to Holz BG and the latest CEN 847 standards. The range offers both metric and imperial sizes and the bits are fully serviceable.
