This year we have even more demonstrators than before, Vic Tesolin will be demonstrating Veritas, Curtis Turner and John Parkinson will be demonstrating all things Lie-Nielsen Toolworks.  We welcome Henry Taylor Tools to our Harrogate team this year too, come and find out more about this range of British made tools.  David Barron will be joining us again to show you why you need his fantastic dovetail guides.  Brian Walsh will be showing you why we all need a Japanese Pull Saw in our tool box.  Phil and Mick will be answering all your sharpening questions.  We will also have members of our own staff demonstrating and answering your questions on Abranet, Saburrtooth, Pfeil, Burnmaster pyrography and the whole host of other tools we stock.

Vic Tesolin – Veritas

Currently the Technical Advisor at Veritas and when he is not there he is in his shop building furniture or writing articles for various publications.  Vic is also the author of The Minimalist Woodworker, a book encouraging people to work with hand tools.

Vic is a veteran of the Canadian Army where he served for 14 years in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery.  He went onto be a student at Rosewood Studio where he studied furniture design and making under the guidance of some of North America’s top furniture makers.  He ran his own studio furniture business designing and crafting furniture by commission whilst working at Rosewood as a part time instructor and craftsman in residence followed by becoming editor at Canadian Woodworking magazine.

Curtis Turner - Lie-Nielsen Toolworks

We welcome Curtis back to the North of England Woodworking Show for a 3^rd year, he loves the show and the customers love him! 

Curtis traces his interest in woodworking to his early childhood and still has the first toolbox he made from scraps at the age of 10.  Curtis was a customer before joining the Lie-Nielsen team in 2007.  His first Lie-Nielsen plane was a No. 4½ bench plane and remains a favourite tool.

John Parkinson – Lie-Nielsen Toolworks

"The work of cabinet making, the designing, joining and finishing of a piece has always appealed to me. The process demands the use of both the hands and mind. My deepest satisfaction comes from designing a piece that both the end user and viewer find both useful and interesting."

Originally from Newcastle here in of England, John was first exposed to woodworking through his father. After leaving school and serving a four year City and Guilds woodworking apprenticeship at Newcastle College of Arts & Technology, John worked as a journeyman woodworker making everything from cabinets to fine furniture.

In 2005 he moved to Austin, TX and started his own custom furniture business, John Parkinson Furniture. He now resides in Durham, NC where he makes custom furniture and teaches classes in his own workshop.

Lie-Nielsen Toolworks discovered John at their Austin Hand Tool Event in 2010 and he’s been part of their  staff ever since. In his down time, John enjoys music, reading, hiking and biking.
