Peter Sefton Tool Shop Acquires Wood Workers Workshop

Peter Sefton Tool Shop expands with acquisition of Wood Workers Workshop

Product range significantly extended to offer American brands including Incra, Router Boss, Woodpecker and Easy Wood Tools to UK woodworkers and furniture makers

Peter Sefton Tool Shop is delighted to announce that it has significantly expanded its product offering following the purchase of Wood Workers Workshop from founder Roger Phebey.

Roger has recently retired and entrusted the ongoing success of the business which he first established in 1997 to husband and wife team, Peter and Sarah Sefton along with a third director, Garry Rowberry.

Peter Sefton is a well-known face in the world of woodworking having devoted the past 18 years to teaching and mentoring furniture making students – initially as course leader of BTEC National Diploma in Furniture Design and City and Guilds Furniture Making courses, and for the last few years at his own Peter Sefton Furniture School.

Peter spends a significant amount of time advising students on tool selection so offering a tool shop selling products which have been personally selected and tested by him and his small team seemed a natural progression for the business.

He established the Peter Sefton Tool Shop last year and has now acquired the Wood Workers Workshop to significantly increase the business’ product range to cater to the needs of woodworkers and fine furniture makers throughout the UK, along with Co-Director Garry Rowberry.

Peter says, “Selecting the correct tools for the job, and making sure they are sharp enough to achieve the desired finish, is a vital part of the furniture making process. I am lucky enough to have built up almost 30 years’ experience in this field and am often asked to write feature articles about tool selection for some of the UK’s leading woodworking magazines as well as regularly advising students, both past and present.”

Peter Sefton Tool Shop has now re-branded as Wood Workers Workshop and sells a range of hand tools to suit all budgets. Its products include English made tools sourced from some of the best makers in the country, as well as a range of less expensive items for those just starting out in woodworking. Peter has also designed his own range of products which are made by Thomas Flinn and available exclusively through the shop.

Wood Workers Workshop is an established brand offering a range of products predominantly sourced from America, including Incra, Router Boss, Woodpecker and Easy Wood Tools. The company benefits from an extensive customer base as Technical Director, Garry Rowberry, elaborates. “The Peter Sefton Tool Shop is a relatively new business so we decided to continue trading as Wood Workers Workshop as it has valuable brand equity. Both businesses have been integrated into a single website so customers will benefit from access to the quality brands associated with the Wood Workers Workshop, with the convenience of secure online ordering.  Prospective customers will be able to visit us here by appointment at the workshop to see products in action.  We have a full INCRA router table set up with both over and under table extraction to show off the best of what’s on offer from the USA and we’ve just taken delivery of the latest Router Boss - we believe we have one of the best equipped router demonstration workshops in the UK.  Eventually we will also be offering specialist router courses on the Router Boss, to complement our other router courses using conventional router setups - hand routing, template and guide bush work, and table mounted routing.”
