The prestigious Chippendale International School of Furniture in East Lothian is opening its doors wider than ever before with an exciting new 10-week course, and the exclusive opportunity for one aspiring woodworker to snap up a fully-funded place.

Designed to fit into busy lives, the newly launched 10-week woodworking course commences in October 2024 and is aimed at anyone looking to advance their woodworking hobby and gain new skills. Taught in a group of eight, eager students will hone their craft under the guidance of three highly experienced tutors, while delving into an array of captivating projects.

This new carefully crafted course strikes the perfect balance between comprehensive learning and manageable commitment. It's the ideal next step for those seeking to delve deeper into furniture making, bridging the gap between the School’s four-week intermediate course and more intensive 30-week professional course.

The course runs from 7 October to 13 December 2024, with a half-term break from 8-11 November.

Hopeful students meeting the criteria can apply online for a bursary, which if successful, will grant them a fully-funded place on the School’s new 10-week course.

* Applicants must be under 30 years old and residents of Scotland.

* The bursary application window remains open for two months, closing on Tuesday 30 April.

A personal touch

Principal Tom Fraser – the visionary behind this innovative course – has made it his mission to continually expand the school's offerings since assuming the reins from his father, Anselm, in 2019. From woodturning weekends, upholstery and restoration courses to the intricate art of wood-bending techniques, each addition reflects his unwavering dedication to developing talent and cultivating creativity.

What sets the 10-week course apart is the personal touch it brings to every lesson. For the first time ever, Tom will share his passion and expertise in Danish woven cord, adding a unique flair that promises to inspire and captivate.
