Whats in issue 300 of Good Woodworking magazine

Good Woodworking celebrates its 300th issue this month and as a thank you, we’ve given over an extra 10 pages of fantastic content. We have a 17 page Shed of the Year 2015 competition special, where we give you a glimpse into all the category finalists, the category winners and also reveal the ultimate winner! We also have an exclusive interview with ‘Head Sheddie’ and founder Andrew Wilcox. As well as this we also have two brand-new series for you, some great projects, features, tests and two fantastic competitions from Trend and Robert Sorby.

Join John Bullar for his new ‘start furniture making’ series

In the first of a new 12-part series, pro furniture maker John Bullar takes you through the steps for setting up a workshop and choosing the best tools for the jobs in hand. The new series will guide you through setting up a workshop and choosing the right tools and materials, as well as studying in detail some of the most useful construction techniques.

Mike Warren scrap wood table

Mike Warren has a great idea for using up those pieces of scrap wood

We all have pieces of offcuts and scrap wood lying around the workshop, so what better way to put them to use than with this highly effective scrap wood table? Mike Warren takes you through the process step-by-step.

Phil Davey driftwood christmas tree

Make Phil Davy’s unique driftwood Christmas tree

We have some great Christmas projects for you this month, including Phil Davy’s wonderful driftwood Christmas tree, which was inspired by a recent trip to a Cornish beach. Easy to make and would look great in a porch or outdoors over the festive season.

Close up of an almost complete model. Note the Master-Angle board resting against the leg of the table

Michael Huntley also returns with a series on Japanese carpentry. This month he tells us about the Japanese carpentry masterclass he ran earlier this year and talks us through the process for marking out joints for hip rafters and wall-plates.

Be sure to pick up issue 300 of Good Woodworking, which hits the shelves on 4 December, 2015

Enjoy!
