Win! 1 of 3 Tooley Park Scribers

The competition closes on the 1 December 2024.

There’s three different models up for grabs: TPK, UBB and SB Scribers. The first winner drawn receives the TPK Scriber; the second winner, the UBB Scriber and the third winner, the SB Scriber.

Philip Sewell – a Leicestershire-based cabinetmaker and woodworking product designer/maker – makes a number of quality tools including the fantastic range of Tooley Park Scribers. Philip made his original scriber many years ago, which was rough and ready but very effective. Owing to its usefulness and effectiveness, since then, this tool has been developed and modified and the range now includes a number of different models and attachments, for added functionality. Perfectly suited to general woodwork tasks, from fitting furniture to making chairs, the scribers are small and fit nicely in the hand with a footprint of only 64 × 25.4mm for the FB, BB, UBB and TPK, and 64 × 19mm for the SB Scriber.

PK (TRAICAPIK KID) SCRIBER

  • Designed to hold the Pica and Tracer deep hole pencils. The aluminium cradle is the same as the FB Scriber with a base size of 64 × 25.4mm. Due to the pencil’s length, the TPK Scriber doesn’t open quite as wide as the FB and SB models with a shortened pencil.

  • The pencil holder is Delrin®. The front cap head screw acts as a counterbalance to the thumb-screw tightening knob. This can be adjusted to suit the two different pencil types, which have very slightly different shank sizes.

  • The chosen winner will be asked to specify which pencil they wish to use. The Tracer is 0.05mm wider in diameter than the Pica pencil, so the hole needs to be slightly enlarged to suit.

UBB (UNIVERSAL BIG BOY) SCRIBER

  • Black or white options available.

  • Has a clamping system, which can accommodate marking tools with a diameter of between 5.5 and 10mm.

  • Particularly suitable for holding permanent marker pens, which would be damaged with the ‘screw down’ clamping method.

  • With the profile attachment added and the ability to hold a variety of marking devices, this is the most versatile model in the range.

  • A great tool for fitting furniture, but really comes into its own for marking surfaces where pencils aren’t suitable. Possible uses include scribing vinyl flooring to skirting board with a marker pen, although it’s equally good for marking tiles.

SB (SKINNY BOY) SCRIBER

  • Black, blue, orange and white options available.

  • This and the FB (Fat Boy) Scribers are the most popular models in the range.

  • Ideal for scribing work tops, infill panels, chair/table feet levelling, etc. and with the profile attachment fitted, you can scribe mouldings and brick work. Particularly good for site fitting owing to its size.

  • 64 × 19mm – with a shortened pencil – this scriber fits in the palm of the hand and can access awkward places.

  • For those users only intending to use a scriber for fitting furniture, the SB is recommended as it’ll get into places other scribers can’t.

  • The tightening thumbscrew is spaced away from the scriber’s body, which makes it easier to grip. When tightened, the tool won’t move in use.

  • Can be inverted so that the pencil is below the pivot point. Particularly useful when used in conjunction with the profile attachment.

  • For your chance to win 1 of 3 Tooley Park Scribers, simply correctly answer the following question. Good Luck!
