Another feature packed issue for you to enjoy. We have been busy sorting out a diverse collection of articles this month. There's something for everyone, from new and established contributors. All the articles are packed with techniques for you to use in your own woodworking, even if you are not following the published project. Some are simple and others are just plane clever. Whatever your woodworking interest there will be something to catch your eye in this action-packed edition of the UK's best selling woodworking magazine - The Woodworker.

Alan Holtham kicks off this issue with a toy chest made from furniture board. Using a combination of hand and power tools and even a lathe (to make some bun feet), Alan shows you how to build a very useful piece of furniture. After all that hard work what you need is a good sit down. Gordon Warr is building a traditional carver chair to satisfy that need.

The more unusual subjects are covered by Mark Cass and John Marshall. Mark, who is out on-site replacing a handrail on a staircase and showing you several interesting techniques including how to bore square holes! Meanwhile John is combining hobbies by making a landing net and explaining his technique for bending wood.

The workshop section is packed with lots of interesting features including an in-depth look at air nailers and compressors as a primer to next month's article on using them. For router fans I am in my workshop building a simple router table and looking at a selection of commercial router table accessories. Ron Fox will be back next month with a new series dispelling some of the myths and giving you the low-down on how to use some of the specialist router cutters available.

You may remember back in the January 2009 issue we featured Dennis Knight's pen making workshop. This month we paid Dennis a visit and shot the front cover in his workshop - it is amazing what you can do in such a small space; Dennis works out of the back of his garage. His workshop is only the back half of a single garage! He joins us in the turning section this month while getting to grips with turning some slimline pens. Elsewhere in the turning section Alan Holtham turns a Pomander and Chris child continues his turning course.

Andy Standing is up to his armpits in cordless drills in the test section while I look at the new T5 router from Trend. The Driftmaster bandsaw fence is tested by Alan Holtham in his own workshop.
