• Only a pawn in their game – Terry Diss shows you how to produce a modern chess set which is easy to play with. It will also make a handsome centrepiece on a table or sideboard

• Chicken run 2 – Alan Holtham picks up where he left off last month, by finish off his mobile chicken coop, adding the wheels and the outdoor run, and moving in the new tenants

• As time goes by – Peter Dunsmore presents a square-faced Georgian-style bracket clock that’s made from solid walnut throughout, with the case covered in walnut veneer

• Deb’s delight – Michael Forster knows there’s something intensely personal about a jewellery box, as he was asked to make this triple-decker as a wedding present for a friend’s daughter

• A woodworker’s ABC – Andy Standing continues his light-hearted series with a look at woodworking terms beginning with the letters M, N and O

• A 1960s icon – Fred and Julie Byrne present another scrollsaw challenge as they describe reproducing a 3D front view of the iconic VW camper van

• Stand and deliver – John-Henry Bigley’s first contribution to The Woodworker was the final second-year project of his furniture-making course at Leeds College of Art

• Routing on the lathe 1 – Colin Simpson shows you how to construct a simple jig for your lathe that will make light work of creating flutes and grooves on your turned work

• A tiny turn – Ian Wilkie describes the miniature tools, the equipment and the techniques needed for turning 1:12 scale pieces for doll’s houses
