In terms of features for this month, in his 'modern woodworking' column, Anselm Fraser, Principal of The Chippendale International School of Furniture, discusses failures and how to move on when these happen in your work; Robin Gates finds an echo of the horse-drawn wagon in an ambitious car conversion featured in The Woodworker of 68 years ago; in our profile, award-winning furniture designer and maker Ollie Allen's collaborative work includes utilising CNC techniques and CAD packages to create truly bespoke pieces; we look around the workshop of 55-year-old Facilities & Maintenance Manager, Bob Wyatt; professional woodworker Paul Nolan shares two of his award-winning inventions with us; and in 'End-grain', Edward Hopkins encourages us to make our own kind of music.

On our test bench this month we have a varied lot, starting with the Bosch GAS 18V-10 L Professional wet & dry vacuum, which Jamie Smith puts through its paces. Benefitting from high power capacity, compact size and low weight, as Jamie says, for anyone looking for a second vacuum or a cordless portable vac, this machine would prove to be an excellent choice. Moving on to the Clarke CTS16 254mm table saw, Jonathan Salisbury finds this budget-priced model to represent excellent value for money despite a few minor failings; and Phil Davy tries out the Pony Three-way edging clamp, which he says is excellent where access for conventional clamping is difficult.
