World-renowned furniture school, The Chippendale International School of Furniture, is set to host its 38th annual Graduate Exhibition & Fine Furniture Sale next month.

Taking place between Wednesday 14 and Saturday 17 June, the event will showcase a range of fine furniture crafted by students graduating from this year’s Professional Course.

The nine-month Professional Course attracts aspiring furniture makers from across the globe and has gained international fame as a training ground for exceptional woodworkers. Providing students with the essential skills and knowledge to successfully establish and run their own furniture making business, the Professional Course covers everything from design techniques to marketing strategies.

The 2022/23 course comprises 30 talented students from around the world, including India, Chile, Thailand, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Malta, the UK and Ireland. Among the exhibiting students is Eivind Haarr Smedal from Norway, whose Danish cord woven rocking stool is as fun as it is aesthetically pleasing. This piece will be displayed alongside his slanting ash bench, which is inspired by the rugged snowy landscapes of Northern Norway.

Also on the course is Nick Davis from England, whose cleverly designed curved benches, which surround a coffee table, are an example of how good design is often beautifully simple. He'll also be exhibiting a striking blue veneered pantry cabinet along with an arts and crafts inspired lounge chair.

Tom Fraser, Principal, commented: “Our annual Graduate Exhibition is a celebration of the exceptional effort and dedication our Professional Course students have demonstrated over the last nine months.

“The course is intensive and a one-of-a-kind in the UK, and every year we're astounded by the creativity and talent our students showcase in their final designs.

“This is a chance for visitors to witness the very best in up-and-coming global furniture design talent – and you can even go home with one of the stunning designs if one catches your eye.”
