Bahco has launched its next generation ERGO Handsaw System.

Designed for professionals, serious craftsmen and DIY enthusiasts, the ERGO Handsaw System employs a revolutionary handle design, which enables users to interchange 10 different blades in a matter of seconds. This month you will find Andy Standing on the front cover amongst a pile of tools in his workshop ready for another rigorous testing session. Towards the back of the magazine you will also find him sampling a few tasty biscuit jointers and passing on a few tips along the way.

Following the success of the original Trend Routabout, the unique floor access routing template, Trend has now launched a smaller diameter version, ideal for plumbers and electricians.

A 108mm diameter opening can be cut in the floor, allowing access to junction boxes or cables and is ideal for making repairs to accidental damage made to the floor during house construction. The floor can be made good in seconds…

Almost fifty years ago, I constructed a garden seat based on a design in The Woodworker by Charles Haywood. It was made in Japanese oak and has given good service over the years, but it’s now sadly beyond any further patching up, as the photograph below left shows. This seat which forms the subject of this project is a replacement made with European oak. It’s 4ft 3in wide and stands almost 3ft high at the back (see fig 1). Stock…

Well, as of today (28th Jan) we have a new forum email alert system in place which gives you the option of choosing which threads to receive email alerts on. To activate the alerts for any thread on the site simply add it to your favorites.   When you post a new message on a thread you should also notice a check box below the main text box which…

Its a new year but Andy King is turning back the clocks with a masterclass on saw sharpening in this issue. This really is chapter and verse, from topping, through dressing and onto setting with all those tricky little issues like fleam filing explained along the way. Okay, hardpoint saws may make saw sharpening entirely optional these days, but should a craftsman not be fully understanding and caring of his tools?

Martin Aplin makes the…

Ian Taylor has produced this months lead item in Projects. A fine, and quite sizeable, chest made in oak, the project combines both hand and machine work to produce a very fine piece. Curiously Gordon Warr too has a chisel to hand as he cuts recesses for hinges on his mahogany pendulum clock. Meanwhile Keith Smith is putting his woodworking skills to the matter of creating a mould for a fibreglass cyclone to aid his workshops extraction system…
